The West African Examination Council, WAEC has cancelled 5 papers in the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination ? BECE. According to WAEC, the papers have been compromised.

The 5 papers are English Language 2, Religious and Moral Education 2, Integrated Science 2, Mathematics 2, and Social Studies 2. In a statement confirming the cancellation, WAEC said it has ?discovered to its greatest dismay and disappointment that some of the papers of the ongoing BECE have been compromised.
The statement goes on further to state that ?in addition to other sources, the papers have gone viral on social media especially WhatsApp Messenger. In pursuance of its quest to demonstrate its abhorrence for examination malpractice of any sort, safeguard the sanctity of its examinations and integrity of its certificates issued, the Council has CANCELLED the listed papers.
?As such, Social Studies 2 & 1 tests slated for tomorrow, 18th June, 2015 will NOT be administered. However, the remaining papers, that is French and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be taken as scheduled.?
WAEC has therefore proposed new dates for the cancelled papers to be written indicating that ?the compromised papers will be re-administered on 29th and 30th June, 2015. The time table for the tests will be circulated shortly.?
