Two Cameroonian security forces members and six armed separatists were killed on Thursday in three incidents in the country’s two crisis-hit English regions of Northwest and Southwest, security sources said.
A police officer was killed in an ambush by armed separatists in Bali in the Northwest. Another security officer was shot dead in Muyuka in the Southwest in a gun battle, security sources who asked not to be named told Xinhua.
Six separatists were killed following gunfight with government troops in regions of Southwest and Northwest, according to military sources.
Government forces and armed separatists have been clashing in the two regions since 2017 after separatists declared the “independence” of the Anglophone regions from the largely French-speaking Cameroon. Enditem
