Nine Ghanaian fishermen who had been reported dead on Tuesday by Guinea’s police spokesman, are still alive, Ghana’s Consul General in Guinea Enerst Abem told Xinhua on Wednesday.
Measures were being taken by Ghana’s consulate in Guinea in collaboration with the Maritime Transport Agency and VINA company which saved the lives of the fishermen, to return them to the Guinean soil.
Their small boat had left Bonfi port in Conakry on June 11, but nothing had been heard from them four days later. On Monday, the small boat was found some 9 km from Kassa island within Guinean waters, but with the fishermen missing.
On Tuesday, Guinea’s police spokesman Boubacar Kasse had announced the death of the nine Ghanaian fishermen. Enditem
