Indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the auspices of Coalition of Indigenous Groups in FCT have called on the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed to drop his plans of contesting the Bauchi State gubernatorial election and concentrate on completing his projects in the territory.
This is sequel to reports that the minister is one of the cabinet members who would soon resign their appointments to pursue various political interests.
The Abuja indigenes who staged a peaceful protest from Garki village to the minister?s office in Area 11, Sunday, urged the minister to reconsider the decision, insisting that there were certain pixies initiated by the minister, which they feel he should be around to complete, as the initiator.
Coordinator of the group, Engr. Danjuma Bussa, who spoke on behalf of his members, said the protest was borne out of the desire of the indigenes to see the projects, such as the land swap project completed, a desire which the minister?s purported political move may affect, emphasising that integration of original inhabitants, a policy introduced by the incumbent minister, may stop once he leaves office.
?The integration of original inhabitants is a policy that never worked in the FCT before the coming of Senator Bala Mohammed. He has restored our hope with his assurance of a workable integration, resettlement and compensation plan to succeed for the first time since 1976,? Bussa said.
