Accra Brewery Limited, Ghana?s premier brewing company, recently held its annual end of year employee awards ceremony at the Banquet Hall of the State House to recognise years of faithful and devoted service of its employees.
The occasion also served as a farewell dinner for the outgoing Managing Director, Gregory Metcalf, in appreciation of his sterling contributions to the fortunes of the company.
Thirty-six employees who have diligently served the company over a period of ten to forty-two years were presented with certificates and cash rewards for the important role they have played and continue to play in the progressive growth of the brewery.
Mr. Thomas Yirenkyi of the Packaging Department took home the ?longest serving employee? award.
At the ceremony, the outgoing Managing Director, Gregory Metcalf remarked, ?It has been a wonderful and challenging working experience with the Accra Brewery family and I?m surely leaving Ghana with fond memories of this chapter of my career.?
He also expressed gratitude to all the employees for making his 5 year tenure a success, indicating that the brewery is witnessing significant expansions because of their hard work. He stated that the brewery?s multi-million dollar expansion project will consequentially improve the conditions of service of employees as well as help reduce unemployment in the Ghanaian economy.
He advised employees to put in their best and assured them of better days ahead with the brewery.
On behalf of the awardees, Mr. Thomas Yirenkyi praised the company?s management team and other employees for creating a conducive working environment. He said one can only be loyal when his efforts are appreciated, his needs are recognised and catered for, and the atmosphere for working is favourable. He stated that management has always made efforts to do all these over the past years and he is sincerely grateful.
Mr. Yirenkyi congratulated his colleagues who received the awards and also encouraged all employees to be a united workforce striving to serve the company to the best of their ability in order to attain success.
Amidst excitement and jubilation, the employees were treated to good soothing music, a buffet meal and a variety of the company?s products.
