Harrsion Afful through to his second-straight Champions League final
By Ameenu Shardow
Ghana defender Harrison Afful helped Esperance qualify for their second straight CAF Champions League final on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was integral in the right-back position as the Tunisians secured a 1-0 victory over DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.
Afful came close to opening the scoring in the 27th minute but his goal-bound shot was parried away by goalkeeper Kidiaba.
Esperance?s breakthrough eventually came in the 70th minute when Ben Mansour connected to a free kick at the far-post to send the home fans into a state of ecstasy.
The ?Red and Gold? held on for the vital win despite playing a staggering eight minutes of added-on time to go through on a 1-0 aggregate scoreline after the first leg in Lubumbashi ended goalless.
Esperance now awaits their final opponent to emerge from the winner of the second semi final tie between Al Ahly and Sunshine Stars.
Afful?s solitary strike won the Champions League crown for Esperance in last year?s final against Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca.
