It is interesting to note that the child that is abandoned feels embarrassed and hurt and the mother of that child will be hurt as well though, she will soon give birth, and that?s her consolation. Much as there is a part of the mother?s blood in the child, the pain will prolong but that is the best option probably; abandoning the child. The child on the other hand upon realization of the wrong done might want to return as a prodigal child and definitely will be accepted back for regaining his senses.
Incidents happened in South Africa on reasons best known by the citizenry of the land and that raised a lot of questions in the minds of Africans and the world at large. Africans becoming foreigners in their own continent, and foreigners in another man?s land, was that a curse placed on them by the colonial masters making them not know their own any longer? Have they forgotten that South Africa is the last born of Africa form the colonial masters? What of when Africa shared joy with them in their freedom, seeing ourselves us one people, one Africa, one destiny and one goal? Are we therefore, concluding that the freedom fighter and of course Champion, Nelson Mandela did not leave blue prints behind to tread after them or he fell to sleep with all the good he did? Definitely not! If nothing at all, South Africa is no longer under the frowned upon law; apartheid and that should be a sure sign to nurture the love, peace and the unity it left behind.
Africa without South Africa, without Burundi, without Kenya, without Mali and DR Congo, et al will still remain Africa but daughters of hers have left her (Africa) and that will be the part that will be hurtful. With the proactive minds of African leaders about future happenings as recently happened in the most loved daughter of Africa (last born are most cherished) formed African Union out of OAU to have ?an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in global arena? as its vision to achieve. How far have we come? As a continent can we boast that a bit of our vision statement is attained and working towards a broader one or we are still under the prenatal period yet to give birth to these objectives and vision statement as an African Union where we all are the stakeholders? Are the upcoming ones learning what is occurring now? Sure they are exactly doing that, and how are we seeing posterity from here? Bright or Blur? The gods of the land are not at ease with what is happening at the moment. They fought a good fight and expect better ones after them; on the contrary, the worst is surfacing.
Arise Africa! Arise! The future is blurring, the vision is fading, and posterity awaits a change now. It takes you, it takes me, and it takes us to reshape Africa. The energy used in resolving conflicts can be used to provide portable water. Many people are in need of just ?some-how? clean water to drink and cannot find, it is appalling seeing them falling and nothing is done about it and we claim to be one Africa. I am yet to see that. Lives are suffering to get food just for once in a day but cannot get. Where is the Pan-Africanism representing the aggregation of the historical, cultural, spiritual, artistic, scientific and philosophical legacies of Africans from the past times to the present?
Africa is yet to recover from manydamages whichhave been caused by battles of the minds, African thinking negative of an African, panting for the failure of the other. Leaders are desperate for power, for a good cause? Most definitely no, if the intention of becoming a leader is good, there would not be wars on losing elections. Self-centeredleadership spirit gaining grounds, the citizenry is no longer needed after gaining power.
Can we boast of better educational system as a continent? Education being the key to unlocking freedom is beingplayed with.If we had better education and training, these xenophobic attacks in South Africa, terrorism attacks in Kenya, the elections violence in Burundi, rebels? conflicts in Mali and DR Congo and the precious lives lost in the Mediterranean Sea would not have been mentioned. With better education, we can manage our own affairs effectively; we are capable of managing our own affairs! Better ways of securing food for the greater masses would have been devised. Safe water for the in-need would have been easily done.
A new dawn has come, a clarion call on all; the old and the young, the rich and the poor, the educated and the uneducated to arise for the betterment of Africa, our mother Land! You are a part of this challenge. Mother Africa looks up to you.
We can!
Long live you!
Long live African
