Air Commodore Mamphey Chickens Out

Air Commodore Kwame MampheyAir Commodore Victor Kwame Mamphey, Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has confirmed to the GNA that he has tendered his resignation to the board.

Information gathered earlier revealed that Air commodore Mamphey is expected to hand over to the acting deputy Director General, Finance and Administration, Mr. Boye Atoklo, effective June 30, 2014.

He however, did not give any reasons for the action.

Air Commodore (Rtd) Mamphey was appointed in 2009 to head the GCAA and has chalked several successes for Ghana in the industry.

Among other things, there has been significant growth both in the international and domestic aviation sector in Ghana under his stewardship.

Currently, 42 flights serve the KIA, including three domestic airlines: Antrak, Starbow and Africa World Airlines.

Ghana was also appointed as chair of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) under his tenure and is represented by the Director General.
