Akufo-Addo?s uninspiring campaign not a threat to NDC

The Central Regional Director of Communications for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Listening Tour is an exercise in futility.

According to Allotey , the uninspiring campaign messages of the NPP flag-bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will not on the chances of the ruling party to retain power.

Allotey?s comment comes on the back of media reports that Nana Akufo-Addo received a rousing welcome in the Central region when he took his listening tour to the region.

The NPP flag-bearer who ended his tour of the Central region over the weekend is said to have toured communities such as Dunkwa, Oponso, Buabin, Kyekyewere, Subin, Diaso, Ayanfuri and Ntom in the Upper Denkyira East and West constituencies.

Nana Akufo-Addo according to reports reiterated among other things his commitment to providing free Senior High School education for all under his presidency.

But Allotey Jacobs on Asempa FM?s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, said the report was just a fabrication by some NPP members who want to deceive that their party and flag-bearer are popular in the Central region.

He claimed that the youth of Ayanfuri snubbed and humiliated the NPP flag-bearer when he [Nana] visited the town.

?They [NPP] are deluding themselves that they were given a rousing welcome forgetting that they are repeating the same style which landed them in opposition in 2008?.

Jacobs noted that the conduct of the NPP members in the Central region is a clear attestation that they have not learnt from their mistakes which sent them into opposition in 2008.

The Central regional NDC scribe added that, NPP continue to exhibit pomposity with its flag-bearer convinced of being the next President in Ghana while in opposition.

?The NPP were so boisterous; sure of winning the elections, and pride had taken more of their nature than presenting themselves as humble servants of the nation,? he said.

The NDC guru believes the December polls will be more on issues and track records which he said the Mills-led administration in its first term has performed very well for a renewal of mandate.

He therefore urged the NPP to revise their campaign strategy and prove to Ghanaians why they should be returned to power.

In a quick rebuttal, Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira West, Benjamin Ayeh, a discussant on the programme refuted Allotey?s claims.

He said the jubilant crowd in Ayanfuri compiled Nana Addo convoy to stop to exchange pleasantries with the people.

Ayeh whose constituency the NPP flag-bearer visited alleged that NDC activists in the area planned to disrupt the tour when they got wind of Nana Addo?s visit.

He noted that the jubilant crowd in the region promised to vote out the ?non-performing, deceitful NDC government? to secure a good future for their children under the NPP.

Benjamin Ayeh stated emphatically that Nana Addo never insulted the President but rather laid bare his policies to transform Ghana under his presidency.
