Albania and Austria Wednesday signed an agreement on recognition of pension contributions, the Albanian government said in a statement.

The agreement was signed by Albanian Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Blendi Klosi and his Austrian counterpart Alois Stoger.

The deal partly aimed to integrate the social security benefits and is based on equal treatment of employees in employment, treatment and benefits from these activities, Klosi said.

He also said work is underway to sign similar agreements with countries where there is a significant number of Albanians, such as Greece, Italy and Canada.

According to the government statement, Albania has concluded agreements on pension contributions recognition with countries such as Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania and Macedonia. Enditem
