The planting campaign of the first 2,000 trees was inaugurated by State Secretary for Biodiversity and Conservation Paula Francisco in the neighborhood of the Belas district in southern Luanda under the plan initiated by the ministry of environment.
Francisco said the 10,000 trees will be planted in stages in 2015 with support from school students, guardians, local government officials and foreign companies operating in Angola.
The world Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22 each year to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 192 countries each year. Enditem
