… As Oberempong Houses Illegitimate People For Installation As Chiefs

Reliable information available to this paper have confirmed that the Paramount Chief of Ngleshie Traditional Area, Oberempong Nii Kojo Ababio V, is aiding some people to install new chiefs and elders in Oblogo and Menskrom, although the two communities have one substantive chief.
According to information gathered, the development, if allowed to materialize will spark another bloodbath in Oblogo after the death of their late Chief, Nii Kwaku Bibini who was assassinated in broad day light.
This paper has also gathered that, Nii Kojo Ababio is allegedly housing the yet-to-be installed chiefs in at his resident ahead of their installation.
This action by Nii Oberempong Kojo Ababio V to support an illegality, also goes contrary to a Ruling by the Judicial Committee of the Ga Traditional Council on 5th February 2011, indicating that the sitting Chief of Oblogo, Abraham Kwatei Quartei the Oblogo Mantse (Nii Oblogo Lante II) is still the legitimate chief.
The ruling was given by a three-man panel led by Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, Nii Ayikai III and Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru III in a case brought before them by Joseph Aryee Laryea and one other against Kwaku Djin (Kwaku Bibini) who was enstooled as Oblogo Chief whilst Abraham Kwatei Quartei was still in office.
According to the ruling, “The Panel observed that the two Chiefs were enstooled at different dates in the same town. The first Chief Nii Oblogo Lante should be properly destooled before anything else.”
“…. The Stool is for one occupant and unless there is a vacuum, no Chief should be enstooled.”
The ruling also went on to state that, “Having regard the above stated, the Defendant (Nii Kwaku Bibini) herein is hereby restrained perpetually from holdin himself out as Oblogo Mantse.”
However, the Ngleshie Alata Paramount Chief, Nii Kojo Ababio V seems to have been flouting these orders given by competent authorities, hence he is taken certain decisions that run against these rulings.
It has also emerged that, a letter signed by the late Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Tawiah III, on February 25, 2011 after a hearing of the case, also wrote on behalf of the Ga Traditional Council, copied to the IGP, Regional Commander, District Commander-Kaneshie, District Commander-Odorkor, District Commander-Weija and the District Chief Executive-Weija, restraining the James Town Divisional Council from interfering in the Ga Traditional Council’s ruling on the mater.
According to the letter from the late Ga Mantse, “The James Town Divisional Council can therefore not act outside the legal authority of the Ga Traditional Council to subvert a ruling given by the Judicial Committee as clarified under Sec. 29 (1) of the Chieftaincy Act, 759 of 2008, if they do so they will be in obvious contempt and any action necessary by law would be pursued against it.”
Meanwhile the Chief and Elders of Oblogo have risen strongly against this decision alleged to have been spearheaded by Nii Kojo Ababio V to install a new Chief, whilst there is a sitting chief.
They further revealed that even during the installation of Abraham Kwatei Quartei as Oblogo Mantse, a full delegation from the James Town Ngleshie Stool led by Ataa Atoe a Linguist who carried the staff of office of the Ngleshie Stool and accompanied by Ayitey Konko were present to grace the occasion and also took oath of office to usher in Abraham Kwatei Quartei as the new Chief.
They were quite surprise that Nii Kojo Ababio V could go this length to want to install a new chief knowing very well that there is a substantive chief of the area which he even consented to in the process of enstoolment.
According to them, there is the need to prevent any further bloodbath in the community after the death of their late Chief, Nii Kwaku Bibini, hence the appeal to President, Speaker of Parliament, Chieftaincy Minister and the Interior Minister to ensure that sanity prevails in the area by stopping the intended installation of the new people who are currently being kept in the palace of James Town to be outdoored as Oblogo Chief, Dzaase tse and Asafoatse of Menskrom.
However, attempts to reach Oberempong Nii Kojo Ababio V to speak on the issue proved futile as calls placed through to him via his mobile phone number 0243932700, were not answered.
