NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Friday observed his Friday (Jum’at) Prayers at the central mosque in Accra to thank the almighty Allah for his nomination from amongst many competent personalities to partner NPP flag-bearer Nana Akufo-Addo for this year’s elections.
He used the prayer session to ask for Allah’s blessings and guidance for victory for Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the 2012 general elections.
Accompanied by former Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Sheik I.C Quaye, Sheilk T.B Damba and a host of other Muslim scholars in the country, Dr Bawumia’s team paid a courtesy call on the Chief Imam and the Muslim community who worship at the central mosque in Accra.
Speaking to journalists after the prayers, Dr. Bawumia thanked all Muslims in the country for their support and called for calm in the general elections.
He said “We want peace and tranquility to prevail so that together we can transform Ghana and ensure an equitable distribution of the wealth. We will provide free education to Ghanaians regardless of ethnicity, religion, sex or background for that is the only way to break the cycle of poverty and deprivation and misery that has engulfed our people”.
At the central mosque, Dr. Bawumia and his team was mobbed by a teeming group of supporters who could not hide their joy at seeing the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana in their midst.
