Berekum Chelsea Chief Executive Nana Kwame Nketiah says the club are in the processes of finding a suitable name for the team but stated it might take time.
Ex-Ghana FA boss MND Jawula was the first to go on record asking the CAF Champions League to change its to help promote the country.
The club’s name recalls memories of the London-based English Premier League side.
“That has always been in our books since we qualified into the premier league because we even decided to use the name Brong Ahafo Stars but because of certain issues we had to drop and stick to our present name,” Nketiah told local radio Storm FM.
“We are still in the processes trying to find a suitable name for the club to reflect whatever that we stand for.
You know that involves a lot of processes and legalities so we would definitely reach that though I cannot really give a specific time frame.”
Berekum Chelsea hogged the headlines after thrashing three-time African Champions Raja Casablanca 5-0 in the CAF Champions league 1/16th first leg tie.
