In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Bob Barker, the former host of The Price is Right, opens up about the beloved game show, which turns 60 years old this month.
The show, which debuted on Nov. 26, 1956, is part of the fabric of daytime TV. “People always like to win prizes,” Bob, 92, who hosted the show from 1972 to 2007, tells Closer. “And they can win them without knowing who discovered America or anything in the way of history.”
Bob tells Closer that Plinko is still the most popular game, even after all these years. “All the contestants have to do is have Lady Luck give them a break and hope they walk away with a lot of money,” he says of the fan favorite.
Bill Cullen, the original host from 1956 to 1965, “had a wonderful sense of humor,” says Sande Stewart, whose father, Bob, created the show.
