dpa/GNA – Scotland Yard police confirmed on Friday that a body found in woodlands in southern England is that of missing Londoner Sarah Everard, whose disappearance has sparked a nationwide debate about crime against women.

Everard, 33, went missing on March 3 after she started walking from her friend’s house back home in South London.

The remains were discovered in Ashford in Kent, 78 kilometres from where Everard was last seen.

Police have arrested two suspects, one of whom is a serving Metropolitan Police officer in the capital.

A mass vigil to remember Everard is being planned for Saturday in London.
