American Idol?has a major beef on its hands and it includes the two biggest acquisitions of the new season. Veteran recording artist Mariah Carey and this generation’s mainstream hip-hop success story Nicki Minaj don’t like each other at all. At least according to reports from TMZ last Tuesday that Minaj and Carey got into a?huge verbal spat?on the set.
The argument ended with Minaj allegedly saying?“If I had a gun I would shoot her.”?Sources close to Minaj have claimed she never said that and that?American Idol?producers are trying to fuel the fire as a ratings grab. Or are they? TMZ released another report that claims Minaj was “bitchy” to Carey two years ago on the set of their music video, when Minaj was nowhere near the star she is today.
Of course there are a lot of skeptics on the realness of this high-profile feud. Count former?American Idoljudge and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler as one of those skeptics, calling the entire feud “bulls***” and something orchestrated for ratings purposes and nothing more. Real or not, viewers have one more reason to tune in to?American Idol?this season.
