Society has time and again driven people into believing that, social challenges in life are God given. This negative impression is rather unfortunate because the actions and in actions of members of the society are often times largely responsible for the social misfortunes of others.
In recognizing this fallacy upon scientific research and examination, Television Africa has launched a new TV programme “My Life, My Story-Meda Dwen?? to challenge societal conscience for a new thinking towards this unfortunate mindset of society.
Speaking at the event, former Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, now first Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Ebo Barton-Oduro, bemoaned the moral consciousness that has eluded society and the lack of proper parental care and control of children in the home. He said people are not leaving real lives nowadays due to the economic demands and called for the re-awakening to the true African values of family life and existence.
The Chief Executive Officer of TV Africa, Mr Ekow Ansah noted that many people who have been sidelined in society are products of our environment over which no one has control over. Society he said, must take responsibility for the less privileged members in the fair distribution of national resources. ?Our society has failed its weaker members. Our unfortunate brothers and sisters who have become victims of social circumstances are not getting the support they need from the community and society,?? Ekow Ansah lamented.
According to him, the nation?s prisons, drug rehabilitation centres, and mental homes are getting choked on daily basis due to substance abuse and addictions. The failure of society to accept and reintegrate ex-convicts and rehabilitated persons has become a nightmare.
My Life, My Story programme provides the platform for a dispassionate discussion on how to minimize and find lasting solution to situations which has become a challenge to national development.
