The two most fancied local professional boxers will get into the ring for a crack, in an International Boxing Federation (IBF) Intercontinental East Africa, under the promotion of Kitwe General Traders.

Kitwe General Traders Director Lucas Lutainurwa told a news conference in Dar es Salaam on Thursday that the winner of the fight would go home with a golden belt and a Toyota Corolla worth 8m/-.

“Preparations are well underway, so I would like to invite all boxing fans to flock at PTH Hall in their numbers to witness the fight that we expect to be memorable,” said Lutainurwa. Flanked by renowned boxer Rashid Matumla, Lutainurwa said the entrance fees would be 10,000/- for VIP seats, 5,000/- for normal seats and 2,000/- for children.

Both boxers bragged to win the fight, with Mada Maugo expressing confidence that this time round he was going at the fight already knowing that he was the winner. “I have been sent by Rorya people to fight and grab victory and this time I am confident because the referees are coming from abroad, something that will make it hard for any favouritism,” said Maugo who is from Rorya in Mara region.

However, Cheka rubbished his opponent’s jibes, saying Maugo is already a loser. Six undercards are lined up before the main bout in which Seba Temba will exchange blows with Venasi Mponji, while Asha Abubakar popularly known as Asha Ngedere will face Salima Kihombwa.

The day will also see Sadick Momba challenging Cosmas Cheka, as Yohana Robert will take on Ramadhan Shauri. Another bout will see Said Mbelwa taking on Dimoso before Nasibu Ramadhani confronts Moro Best.
