Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur says Ghanaians appreciate the impressive success story of the Chinese people and reiterated government?s determination to replicate the shining example of Chinese.
Mr. Amissah-Arthur was speaking at a meeting with the visiting Vice Chairman of the Chinese People?s Political Consultative Conference, CPPCC, M. A Blao at the Flagstaff House in Accra.
He noted that the relationship between Ghana and China dates back to colonial era, and expressed the hope that the two countries would exploit the relationship to the mutual benefit to their people.
He was particularly happy that the two countries are deepening cooperation in the economic and political fronts.
According to the acting President, Ghana has not only become a significant importer of Chinese products, but also attracted significant Chinese investment.
He also cited the $3 billion dollar Chinese loan to the country.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur commended the Chinese government for the construction of the ultra-modern Foreign Ministry?s building at no cost to the Ghana government.
He was also happy that the two countries have had no diplomatic issues.
Earlier, the Vice Chairman of the Chinese People?s Political Consultative Conference, Mr. Blao said China regards Ghana as a strategic partner in its efforts to deepen economic relationship with Africa.
He commended government?s efforts at providing quality life to the Ghanaian people.
The Chinese delegation was accompanied by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Doe Adjaho and two members of the opposition NPP.
Mr. Adjaho commended the deepening of relationship between the Chinese People?s Political Consultative Conference and the Ghanaian Parliament.
