Kwesi Appiah has set his sights on qualifying the Black Stars to the World Cup finals than becoming the first indigenous coach to achieve that gigantic feat.
Ghana?s two appearances in 2006 and 2010 were masterminded by Serbs- Ratomir Dujkovic and Milovan Rajevac. Dujkovic was on the touch lines when in Germany after arriving midway through the qualifiers and led the team to reach the second round.
His compatriot Rajevac ensured Ghana booked their spot in South Africa with two matches to spare.
At the finals, the Black Stars were the only team to progress from the Group stage and went far as the quarter-finals.
Appiah will be a hero if he tutors the Black Stars to eliminate the Pharoahs for a place in Brazil but for now he is disinterested in that.
?Qualifying Ghana to the World Cup is on the heart of all Ghanaians. The ambition of every coach in Ghana is to ensure that we qualify to the World Cup,? Appiah said at Monday?s press conference.
?Our prayer is that God stays behind us and we go into the game to get a win for all Ghanaians and not for me alone.? (MTNFOOTBALL)
