The Commitments…

A single word jumbled out from the array of 26 alphabets of English language. Though the composure of the word holds a very strong aroma but this aroma soon gets lost amidst the web of excuses.
We often forget the count of commitments we make to ourselves and towards others. The thing of amusement here is that we start making commitments from the time when we do not even understand the gravity of this word. For instance, the first and most common commitment as a child towards his/her parent is the promise to study well since the beginning of academic session. But this commitment evaporates soon with time.
The next commitment is when we grow up and nurture as teens. The commitment of a brother towards her sister proclaiming that he would stay with her through the thick and thin of life. Now-a-day these commitments are too loosing existence due to the increasing glitter of life?s priorities and opportunities.
Soon a new commitment enters into the phase of flowering. A commitment by a friend towards another promising that no matter what situation comes over in life they would always be in contact. The irony here is that the word contact of the commitment remains but the feeling diminishes. Here this word ?Contact? traverses a long journey extending from calls and messages every second day to reducing to weekends and months, finally clumping to the situation of once in a blue moon.
The elegy behind the mourning story of theses false commitments is nothing but a single cause; Excuses.
We easily convince our heart to corroborate a beautifully decorated reason for not sticking to what we promised in the past. When we get no genuine reason to prevent our soul from taking the burden of heinous crime of leaving the commitment unfulfilled, we find an easy way out. The arrow of excuse soon move towards a well planted stamen that says? Everyone in the world do this, I am no one different. So, it?s okay.?
Strange yet true, commitments do no lead to accomplishment of promises but make you land into pool of excuses. It?s not the word ?commitment? at wrong place, but it?s you who stand at the right place and opt for the wrong way later on i.e. a well carved out excuse.
We strongly need to revive the spirit of commitments. A strong call is needed by everyone.
?Become a man of honor and woman of substance,
It?s not just a phrase but the value of your own existence?
