Following the publication of the corrupt and illegal dealings popping up on daily basis by the arrogant and dirty pride District Chief Executive for Kadjebi in the Volta region, the Moment News Paper has gathered in a follow up investigation again that the DCE has been chasing top hierarchy of the ruling National Democratic Congress with huge sums of money believed to have been taken from the coffers of the District Assembly Common Fund to buy power so as to be retained again as the DCE.
It has been revealed in an under cover investigation by The Moment News Paper that the DCE is not helping the course ruling party?s agenda of making Ghana an enviable country in the west African sub-region. Members of the constituency are wondering why the DCE is bent on destroying and tattering the NDC party in the Akan constituency. They are therefore against any move to give him a second chance.
In an interview, Nana Aboagye Prempeh, Regent of Ampeyo, said the Chiefs of Kadjebi District petitioned the late President John E. A. Mills through Mr. Amemowode the then Volta regional minister to reconsider his earlier recommendation on the choice of nominee to the post of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area. The said petition was signed by chiefs of eight Traditional Areas of the District. ?We expressed our dissatisfaction with President Mills’ choice to the position of DCE but President Mills? went ahead and snubbed our petition by posting this arrogant toddler to us as DCE. Now look at the treatment he is visiting on people and even his own workers at the Assembly,? the Chief stated.
The Chiefs in an earlier correspondence dated January 29, 2009, recommended one Mr. Nicholas Fato, Volta Regional Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the position, but the appointment made by President Mills named Mr. Seth Alifui for consideration, against the will of the people.
He said since the appointments of DCE became topical, there have been deliberate attempts through agitation including alarmist publications to advance hollow but dangerous arguments based on false data of ethnic dimensions to justify such appointments for certain communities without the least consideration or sensitivity of the custodians of the land.
He regretted the fact that the incumbent cannot express himself in Akan language, in a predominant Akan area, unless through an interpreter.
Nana prempeh said the current appointment breaches the mutual accord reached by the traditional leaders and it is seen as an aberration to the peace, unity and social cohesion of the area. It said the appointments in the area since the coming into existence of the 1992 Constitution has been imbalanced and skewed to favor particular traditional areas at the expense of the rest.
He appealed to President Mahama to consider the recommendation of the Chiefs and appoint a nominee from the “Wawa-Agya” or north of Kadjebi and Asato or embolic area, else they would advise themselves.
Meanwhile, a group calling itself, ?Concerned Youth? of Kadjebi has vowed to make Kadjebi a lawless district if the demand of the traditional authorities in the District is not solved by the end of June.
They claimed they actually voted President Mahama into power based on one very famous statement he made during the 2012 general elections which states that ?WORKING?FOR YOU,????and indeed it is people who will work for their communities that Ghana want and not those who will work for their pockets and families like ?Volta Mogabe? is?currently doing in office. Busily enriching himself with wealth at the expense of the ordinary Ghanaian,? the group stated.
