An Accra Circuit Court on Tuesday deferred to November 13 the sentence of one Michael Kojo Treve, Unemployed, who was said to have in his possession one Bruni mod 92 Auto Pistol plus five rounds of 32 caliber ammunition.
Michael, who pleaded guilty to the charge was convicted by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh on his own plea. He is however to be remanded until the said date, for sentencing.
Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mawenyo Nanegbe, told the court that the complainants are Police personnel at the National Highway Patrol Department, Headquarters, whilst the convict is a 31 year old unemployed, resident in the Ashanti Region.
He said on October 29, at about 0045 hours, the Patrol team detailed on duty at Accra-Kumasi route, stopped, a Toyota Hiace driven by one Kennedy Boateng for a snap check.
The prosecution said during a search on the passengers of the car, one Bruni mod 92 Auto Pistol plus five rounds of 32 caliber ammunition was found concealed in a hand bag of the convict.
The convict claimed ownership of the bag and its content but could not produce legal documents covering the weapon.
DSP Nanegbe said he was subsequently arrested and sent to the Criminal Investigative Department, Police Headquarters for investigations.
According to the convict, he acquired the weapon from the belongings of a bosom friend who imported it from Italy during a visit to Ghana.
He said Michael told the Police that the weapon was a gas Pistol and after acquisition, he converted it into a Lethal Pistol to use for self-protection.
