According to the state-run radio, those pupils were detained at Muramvya prison for about two months.
Two pupils however remain in Muramvya prison for the same offense of falsifying the Burundian president’s picture considered as an “insult” in the Burundian penal code.
Earlier in June, six pupils accused of falsifying the Burundian president’s picture were also released on bail because they did not have the required age to be detained.
Last month, the east African country’s National Assembly (Lower Chamber of the Parliament) urged the government to pardon hundreds of children who falsified the country’s president’s picture in their textbooks. Enditem
