Daniel Alabi unveils plans for Krowor ahead of primaries

Mr. Daniel Alabi, an aspiring Member of Parliament vying on the ticket of the ruling National Democratic Congress[NDC] in the Krowor constituency in the Greater Accra region has promised to deliver transformational leadership for the constituents when given the nod when the party goes to the polls on November 7, 2015 in its parliamentary primaries.

He said he would tackle issues like youth unemployment, welfare of women, infrastructural development as well as pro-poor issues head-on in order to improve on the standard of living of the constituents.

Mr. Alabi who is affectionately called blowman was not happy that women caucus of the constituency were neglected and were not given the needed support to access loan from MASLOC to start small-scale businesses to fend for their families. Mr. Alabi who is confident of victory disclosed that when he assumed the mantle as the MP for the area he would facilitate to procure loan from MASLOC for women to start businesses and for petty traders to enlarge their business saying women are critical for the socio-economic development of the country.

Touching on the employment of the youth, he said are 200 businesses located in the constituency citing multinational companies like coca cola Company limited and other business conglomerate at Spintex as an example. He opined that as the MP he would lobby the business interest in the constituency allocate 30% employment quota to members of the constituency.

He is of the opinion that when the youth are gainfully employed, the future would be bright for them as well as the country. Mr. Alabi also indicated that youth who want to use the vocational route to earn decent wages in areas such as catering, hairdressing, spraying, masonry; carpentry among others would be assisted to practice their trade.

The aspiring legislator for Krowor said there is the need to tackle pro-poor issues as there must be sustainable programme and projects to lift people from the scourge of poverty. As a result, he said fisher folks in the area would be provided with cold storage facilities for them to store their catch during the bumper season as this would stop the spoilage of fish and enable them earn decent income.

Mr. Alabi also announced that he would work closely with fishermen and other stakeholders in the industry to stop the incidence light fishing saying it is detrimental to the fisheries sector.

Light fishing is a practice where fishermen use light to attract fishes in order to catch them. This practice according to experts in the industry leads to the trapping of fingerlings, a situation which result in the depletion of fish stock in the country’s territorial waters.

On infrastructure, Mr. Alabi who holds Master degree in Human Resource and Post graduate certificate in project management said he would lobby and facilitate the building of CHIPS compound at vantage areas in the constituency to enable inhabitants’ access health care.

Commenting on the construction of road network within his jurisdiction, he stated that he would lobby so that roads and drains at Adogono,Batsona, spintex and Okpegono would constructed.
With regard to security, Mr Alabi explained that street light would be provided at various wards to reduce the menace of crime.

The parliamentary primaries on November, 7 this year, is straight battle between Mr. Daniel Alabi and Mr. E.B Borketey-La Amoosha.

Dr. Okletey Kumah, the incumbent MP for the area who is not seeking a renewal of mandate told this reporter via a telephone interview that he has endorsed the candidature of Mr. Alabi. He therefore appealed to his supporters to vote massively for Mr. Alabi.
