Delta Central Senatorial Election-A Fraud
The Delta Central Senatorial Election held today in Delta State was clearly a fraud, and a gross violation and manipulation of the Delta Central peoples? freewill and free choice; in polling units of most Wards, agents and thugs evidently loyal to and sponsored by the ruling Peoples? Democratic Party (PDP) in the State were brazenly snatching and stuffing ballot boxes with the aid of soldiers and the State Security Apparatus; that is aside the open and veiled threats to voters to vote for certain parties days prior to the election. We therefore declare the election a sham; we reject it and we urge the people of the Senatorial District to reject it as well.
Upcoming Anambra Gubernatorial Election-A Call For Tolerance And A Free And Fair Poll
Elsewhere in Anambra State, we note with concern the atmosphere of intolerance and mutual suspicion pervading the State and the smear campaigns against candidates from opposing camps. We also frown at the destruction of the bill boards of opposition candidates allegedly by thugs? loyal to the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), and we therefore call on the police in the State to investigate these allegations, and deter such further acts. More importantly, we call on the competing candidates to exhibit tolerance and mutual respect, so as to ensure a free, fair and peaceful election next month.
