?
My old and torn brown dictionary tells me that disability is a physical or mental condition that means one cannot use a part of his or her body completely or easily one that one cannot learn easily. But personally, being physically challenged does not mean that you are valueless or you cannot do anything profitable with your life.
I always say that the only disability in life is character.? This is because bad character could lead one into destruction and also put one in shame.
Everybody was taken aback when President John Dramani Mahama appointed Dr Henry Seidu Danaa to head the ministry of chiefteincy and Traditional Affairs.
Is this ridiculous or lack of experience on the part of the President? No. Certainly not.
H.E John Dramani Mahama gave this great and glorious office to this disable man to urge and give hope to other physically challenged persons that disability is not the end of life thus, the state in which they find themselves in should not impede their dreams in any way, hence, they can do something with their lives to better society.
The fact the Dr Henry Danaa is blind does not mean that he cannot discharge his duties to the hilt, because he is in his blindness state when he served in the Regional and National house of chiefs without anomaly.
It is in this view that he was appointed as a minister.
But reader, stop and think for a second. When the President was appointing Dr. Henry Danaa, did he consider the effects that his state of been would have on the ministry?
It is a great taboo for disables, especially the blind, to go to the Manhyia palace to see the king.
Does it mean that the chieftaincy and Traditional affairs minister can not to and see the Asantehene to address issues during his period in office?
Or would the Asante kingdom review its customs to pave way for disables like Honorable Danaa to have access to the Manhyia palace?
Ei! Hmmm, asem sebe!
