Mr Francis Ganyaglo, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, has warned the youth against indiscipline, which he said would only jeopardize their future.YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

He was addressing the third annual Volta Regional International Youth Fellowship (IYF) five-day Students Camp Meeting at Anloga.

Mr Ganyaglo said the nation needed disciplined, visionary and hardworking youth and urged them to ?use your cellular phones for only things that will advance your development and avoid those that will destroy you.?

The Minister said there were many opportunities for self-development that the youth could grasp.

Mr. Ganyaglo commended the IYF for the camp meeting, and promised support for the group.

Skills taught during the camp were bead making, flower decoration, catering, French language speaking and writing proficiency.

Others were music and dance, ICT, basket weaving and Tae-Kwan-Do.

Some Ghanaian company Chief Executives (CEOs), as role models, took participants through lectures on their own paths to success.

Mr. Kofi Humado, the Member of Parliament for Anlo, said as agents of the country?s ongoing national transformation, the youth required strong character development.

?Our youth must begin developing the country they expect to see in the future from now and not wait till they are adults,? he said.

Mr. Humado asked the youth to embrace volunteerism, a training principle in the country?s new youth policy.

The Rev Gwon Jung Gang, a South Korean pastor, told the youth that hanging their hopes and aspirations on God was the only way they could make it.

Togbi Boni II, the Secretary to the Awoamefia of Anlo, urged participants to eschew drunkenness, sexual promiscuity and general disrespect.

Among the 1,000 participants+ were youth groups, tertiary and senior high school graduates from Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria and Cote D? Voire.

Others were from China, Thailand, Germany and South Korea, where the IYF, a Christian faith-based group, with its goal to providing mind training to toughen the youth and give them hope for life, is headquartered.
