The conductor was strangled a day after himself and the driver argued over money
A bus driver was on Thursday arrested at Shereti Village in Kabusa, Federal capital Territory, Abuja for allegedly killing his conductor, identified as Bala Akuki.
The police said the suspect was involved in a fight with his conductor a day before his death, as the suspect accused the deceased of stealing N5,000 from the money realised from the days work.
A police source however, revealed that the suspect denied the allegation, and claimed the conductor died of stomach upset.
Meanwhile, a neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed to the police that the driver had a serious fight with the conductor a night before he died, saying he over-heard the driver and the conductor fighting in the night over the missing N5,000.
“They were engaged in a serious fight,” the neighbour said.
Preliminary investigations by the police however revealed that the conductor was strangled, so the driver was arrested and would soon be arraigned.
