Driver Escapes After Bathing Girlfriend With Acid

The Police has mounted a man hunt for a 35-year old driver for pouring acid on his girlfriend for quitting a relationship.

Peter Kwasi Boadi is said to have embarked on the act after a quarrel.

The victim, Patience Okoegye, a 24-year old trader, who is on admission at the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, is said to have lost her eyes and suffered deformities on some parts of her body.

Speaking to the GNA, a source with the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), Nungua, said Boadi had since been on the run.

The facts available to the GNA indicated that Boadi, who lived at Okpoi Gonno near Teshie, had been in a relationship with Patience.

The source said last year, the two travelled to Boadi’s hometown in the Ashanti Region during the Christmas period.

Boadi had told the victim that he did not have a child. However, on their return from the trip the victim realised that Boadi had a child. Based on that Patience decided to quit the relationship hence stopped visiting Boadi.

However, Boadi called the victim on February 7, this year, to come for GH 1,400 cedis and keep same for him.

According to the source, when the victim reached Boadi’s house, he went out and returned very late. On his arrival, Boadi talked at length on the phone.

Patience then decided to pass the night in Boadi’s house since it was late. Whiles asleep, Patience smelled an irritating scent and quizzed Boadi over that. Boadi told the victim that he was mixing some herbal concoction which he obtained from a herbalist.

The following day, Boadi woke the victim up saying he had obtained a new job as such would be leaving the house early.

Before the victim and Boadi left the house, he gave the victim the supposed GH 1,400 cedis wrapped in a black polythene bag.

On their way, the victim opened the bag and she saw that the supposed money were all papers except that Boadi had planted one cedi notes at the front and back of the bulk money.

Boadi and Patience quarrelled over that in the process, Boadi then slapped the victim who lost composure and sat on the floor.

The source said Boadi removed the bottle of acid hidden in his back pocket and poured it into Patience’s hair. The acid trickled down to her face and other parts of Patience’s body.

Witnesses around rescued Patience and sent her to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
