An East London cat was pulled back from the brink by quick-thinking firefighters. When Gert was found in owner Michael Morrison?s burning Stratford house, she was motionless and not breathing, apparently dead from smoke inhalation. Morrison, in despair, begged the emergency workers to save her and one fireman used his oxygen mask to re-start the small animal?s breathing. This timely act resuscitated Gert. After two harrowing days recuperating at the Celia Hammon Animal Trust center in an oxygen tent, Gert has since been able to move her legs, eat, use her litter tray and has every hope of enjoying the rest of her remaining eight lives.
