NDPCIn a statement sent to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, the Chiefs however called for the return of revered Ghanaian cultural values as a way of bringing back discipline and inculcating the right attitude towards sustainable national development.

The Chiefs made this appeal when an NDPC delegation paid them a courtesy call ahead of the Eastern Regional Forum on the Preparation of the Long-Term National Development Plan in Koforidua.

They lamented the waning authority of Chiefs in recent times which culminate into some people ignoring summons from them.

Baafuor Tutu-Boateng, Krontihene of New Juabeng Traditional Area, expressed worry about the manner in which the Ghana Education Bill before Parliament had relegated to the background the role of churches in education, despite the significant historical roles that they had played in education.

Mr. George Abdul, Eastern Regional Commissioner of NDPC and leader of the delegation, noted that the idea of a long-term national development plan was to ensure synergy and continuity in executing the development agenda.

This, he said, would end the practice of successive governments abandoning projects started by their predecessors, which had led to wastage of resources.

He was accompanied by fellow NDPC Commissioners, Mr. Kwame Jantuah, Dr. AtoQuarshie and Mr. Ntim Adjei.

Baafour Tutu-Boateng, who received the NDPC team with a number of other Chiefs including Barima Frempong, Chief of Suhyen, expressed the unflinching commitment of Daasebre Oti Boateng to sustainable national development and the efforts of NDPC.
