According to them, workers of both the informal and formal sector will embark on strikes and demonstrations.

UNIWA is a branch of Organised Labour.
Secretary of UNIWA, Deborah Freeman said “We will continue to demonstrate, we will continue to agitate, we will continue to strike until our requests are granted. We are not moved by anything.”
UNIWA and other unions under Organised Labour will stage a nationwide demonstration that is expected to mount pressure on government to reduce the increase in taxes and fuel prices.
Speaking on Citi Fm, the Secretary of UNIWA, Deborah Freeman said members of UNIWA are unable to pay taxes due to the harsh economic conditions and that their members want to pay taxes but the environment does not favour them.
“We as leadership don’t have to sit aloof for these things to happen because members complain a lot. We do not endorse everything about the new taxes and levies. We agree that there should be some agreement but it should not go beyond 20%,” she said.
She averred that Organised Labour will hit the streets today with the hope to also negotiate with government on their demands.
