Edina upbeat about PPP victory

A heavy downpour in the Central Regional town of Elmina in the afternoon of Saturday, 2nd of June, 2012 was not enough to deter natives of the coastal town from trooping to the Nana Kobina Gyan Square in their numbers.

Clad in red and white with a smiling sun broadly displayed in front of their T-shirts, men and women descended the bridge on the Elmina lagoon in their large numbers and headed to the square to witness the launch of the campaign of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).

To some, missing such a historic occasion would be their greatest regret of all-time as a true son of the land was bringing home to them, ‘a political party which is on its way to electoral victory.’

“My brother, to miss this occasion would be something I can’t describe, I just want to be living testimony to this event…” an onion seller who had abandoned her trade to cheer on Dr Nduom told this reporter.

Recounting achievements of Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom when he was the legislator for the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem (KEEA) from 2004 to 2008, the enthusiastic crowd wished ‘the election was fast forwarded to this Saturday so that we can have opportunity to vote for him.’

And to Dr Nduom, winning the constituency to a leadership of a PPP candidate would be the solution for the filth that is slowly taking over the constituency with the election of an NDC parliamentarian.

“People did not understand when we said in 2008 that ‘Yeresesamu’, they rather changed for the wrong turn under the guise of ‘Ade wo fie a, eye’ but this time round, we are saying ‘Ada papa wo fie na eye” Dr Nduom told the enthusiastic crowd.

He further urged the people to vote for all PPP aspirants in the country so that together with his team, they can deliver the change the country needs.

An old woman who spoke to this reporter lamented over the hardships in the country and could not believe ‘why I have to spend more than what I spent in 2008 to feed my family.’

‘The solution is a change which we believe would come with the election of the PPP into power,” she said
