Ejuraman Marked Annual Seyirene Festival

The Chiefs and the People of Ejura Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region has marked this year?s Annual Seyirene Festival (Yam Festival) with the grand durbar of Chiefs and the People.

The Festival is under the theme ?Sustainable Peace and Development.? The Occasion was also used to launch Ejuraman development fund.

The aim of the fund is to be used to establish an Ultra modern Sports Stadium in Ejura, fencing of Ejura Government Hospital and among others.

In a speech read on behalf of Ejurahene, Nana Kwaku Sarfo II by Nana Diasempa Antwi Bugyei II Krontihene of Ejura made known that Ejuraman is stressing on the need for peace especially before, during and after this years December general elections.

He urged leaders of this country and any society that any time they get the opportunity to communicate with the people they should remind them of the dangers of beating war drums.

He appealed to all not to only preach peace but also work for peace as we approach this year?s general election.

The Chief lamented that it will be hypocritical on the part of our political leaders to preach peace but nicodemously encourage their supporters and followers to foment trouble.

According to him, Ghana has benefitted enormously from the 20 years of democratic experiment to an extent that the country has cited a good example for the rest of the world bedeviled with conflict, poverty and squalors to emulate.

He noted that, peace is very crucial for the stability of the country and the well-being of the people, however people can only attain that goal if they walk and talk about peace and stop being only sanctions about it.

He commended the NDC Government for their tremendous infrastructural development in the Ejura ?Sekyedumasi Municipality and also applause them for providing School bus to Ejuraman Anglican SHs, Ambulance for Ejura Municipal Hospital, Fire Tender to the Municipal Fire Service and the extension of electricity to many communities in the municipality.

He appealed to the Government to upgrade the Ejura Agriculture College to Diploma Awarding Institution to enable the College functions to its ultimate.

Nana Diasempa Antwi Bugyei II also appeals for an improvement and expansion of infrastructure development of the Ejura Municipal Hospital to meet the needs of the increasing population of Ejura and its environs.

He pleaded with the government to extend the rural electrification project to other communities in the Municipality.
