After missing out on honours in the Uganda International, Africa’s number one badminton player Edwin Ekiring is looking forward to collecting more points in the Tehran International Championships.

Ekiring left Uganda on Wednesday for Iran with a second successive Olympic slot in sight.
“I am confident I will make it to the London Olympic Games,” Ekiring told Daily Monitor before departure. “I have my strategy and will stick to it throughout.”

The Ugandan last tasted glory at the Botswana International in November 2011. “I still have a chance to qualify and my target is to reach two more semi-finals of international tournaments. I know I will be there,” he added.

Ekiring is currently 99th and must keep in the top 100 until April 31 when the World Badminton Federation releases the final rankings before the London Olympics.
