The Defence Ministry in the letter dated September 2, 2013 with reference number TA/126 CONS/S.12 also indicated that the community had made available 50.94 hectares of land for the army unit.

The letter stated further that a budgetary provision for the establishment of the brigade headquarters has been made by the Federal Government in the 2013 Appropriation Act.
It added that the military presence in the state would also boost economic development and security of lives and properties in the state.

The statement recalled that the demand for an army unit was reopened by the state government during Governor Fayemi?s working visit to the Defence Headquarters in September 2011, where he got assurances from the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, on the request.
