Empty words and stolen promises

Speaking empty words and stolen promises, anyone can do. The lazy, the dishonest, the incapable, the promise robber, any of them can do. Anyone can use five months of someone?s leftover term and one year of their own to steal all the money in the system, hike taxes to replenish the kitty, and find a few things to construct and beat his chest that he is an achiever.

Anyone can sit by and watch his seconds, boys and girls and girls and boys, steal as much as they can, and then turn round to pretend sacrificing a 10 per cent wage cut. Having exhausted the cash, oil blocks are now the loots congresspeople are sharing among themselves.

Did you hear about ?achievements during the last NDC term?? There was no mention of ?when I was the second in command and the one in charge of an economy of judgment debt pay-outs with increased taxes to cover the deficit left.? Mark you, come 2016, he is going to tell everyone he deserves a second term because everyone gets a second term on merit or without merit, as if he wasn?t part of the ?last NDC term.?

Proudly expanded air travel has been at the expense of the stalled Suhum-Apedwa road construction. Deliberately, a 266 kilometre journey, which should take not more than three hours, takes between five and six hours because of the Suhum-Apedwa rough patch. So, even those who cannot afford to fly are being forced to patronize airline services.

There were two airlines on January 7, 2009. Today, there are four active and one dormant carrier plying domestic routes. I cannot say how much profit each is making. They have, however discouraged the construction of the Suhum-Apedwa Road stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway, which links the north to the south of the motherland.

If all that is only what governance or leadership or inspirer, or leading to develop was about, I can say with all confidence that anyone can do. No thinking or planning or forward looking is required so anyone can do.

Made in Ghana should be lived. It is worthless talking it because since whenever people and leaders have been talking it. What would have been a do act is that I came to meet Friday wear, but I have made it everyday wear. That would be action. It would be useful deed, not talk.

Free education election tactics is already in motion. The stage for stealing a 2016 election is being set. Someone?s idea of free schooling is being stolen in broad daylight without credit, permission or shame. They like doing that. They will steal your idea, turn it upside down and ruin it to a point where everyone will start saying that it is a bad idea.

Short memories do my compatriots and I have. If that wasn?t the case, we would be reminded about the p?t? gum hwie gum (wishy-washy) free SHS ad rubbishing the idea of free high school education by a certain presidential candidate, who felt threatened by the free SHS promise by another presidential candidate during the 2012 electioneering campaign.

Today, he says that free SHS schooling would free the motherland from illiteracy and ignorance and probably even disease. That is Ananse ways. Kwaku Ananse had rejected abete (cassava powder meal) because he said he was allergic to it. Famishing he asked for abete only to be reminded that he had already rejected it. With only that food available he had to retract the earlier rejection blaming his initial ?I don?t eat abete ?on forgetfulness.

Adjectives have been flowing since the pronouncement. I have heard and read hypocritical, dishonest, deceiving, devious, untrustworthy, falsehearted and conning. Some I cannot reproduce here because they would be edited or some of my compatriots would protest over their usage.

Some of my compatriots are waiting for a justification for vilifying Pastor Otabil over the free education confusion. Being religion related, alternatively, a mea culpa can be expected. I can hear, though: ?Apoligise, for whear?? That would be so much like them, thieving thieves. They will justify the unjustifiable because they see us of the motherland, who are not them, as morons.

There is a presidential admission that free SHS is possible, feasible and justifiable. It has been stolen as a promise, and is to be implemented in the penultimate year to an election. Do poke whatever fun at it. In substance, he would easily lose a clean 2016 election on that single issue of free SHS. So if he cannot steal the election, he better steal the winnable shibboleth.

Shocker! A multinational company is under relentless government pressure to sack a Ghanaian employee because he wrote: ?I wish Ghanaians had the guts of Ukrainians? on his Facebook wall!
