The Police in the Nkoranza South Municipality, have advised road-users to be vigilant, to ensure the celebration of an accident- free Christmas.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Owusu, the Municipal Police Commander, gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), about plans his outfit had outlined to ensure safety on the roads in the Municipality on Monday at Nkoranza in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
DSP Owusu expressed concern about the spate of accidents during occasions like Christmas and Easter, and therefore cautioned both motorists and pedestrians to be careful to avoid carnage on the roads.
He warned drivers to observe road traffic regulations, to avoid unnecessary accidents, so as to save life and property
DSP Owusu also implored passengers to report drunken drivers to the Police and officials of the road transport unions, for their arrest and prosecution.
He cautioned motor-bike riders without protective helmets, to desist from such an unlawful practice, warning that the practice was an indiscipline act on the road.
DSP Owusu said the police would arrest offenders for prosecution.
He disclosed that the Police would intensify their patrol duties on the highways within the municipality during the Christmas period, to check the activities of suspected armed robbers, to ensure security of the communities.
