Dr Mrs Charity Sarpong, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Health Services, has charged district health facilities in the country to ensure that no child missed immunisation exercises.

She also advised that all persons who were eligible should get immunised before the year ended for the needed protection.

Dr Sarpong made the call during the Greater Accra Regional Health Directorate’s 2022 Mid-year- Review meeting in Accra.

Immunisation helps to protect children from diseases caused by bacteria or viruses and protect others around them.

The meeting was on the theme: “Building a Resilient Health System in the Midst of COVID-19 Pandemic Through Continuity of Essential Services, Effective Response to Infectious Disease Outbreaks and Good Governance.”

The mid-year performance review was to assess outcomes to look at how well facilities have performed for the first six months of the year.

It also sought to identify shortfalls and gaps to enable the Directorate to put in the necessary interventions to continue to deliver quality healthcare service to the people.

The Regional Director said because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the objectives set was to ensure continuity of essential services, enhance people’s approach to health facilities and know that they were safe and protected.

Dr Sarpong noted that in order to prepare facilities for disaster circumstances, there would be a documentary on resilience, and a simulation exercise to check emergency response level of the facilities.

The Regional Director asked participants at the meeting to collaborate with their teams, watch the documentary and draw lessons from it for the delivery of high-quality healthcare.

She challenged health facilities to focus on the specifics and statistics, to ensure they were not under reporting cases.

She said Ghana at the moment was faced with three infectious diseases, COVID-19, Monkeypox and Marburg Virus and urged the public to continue adhering to the safety protocols to stem spread.
