Telecom operator Expresso has finally reversed a two-year continues loss of market share in the first quarter statistics published by the National Communications Authority (NCA). According to the report, Expresso increased its subscriber base from the over 184,000 to just above 202,000 between January and March.

According to the company, this could be traced to its recent promotions including offering free calls to its customers.

Tigo, however, did not experience such good numbers in the first quarter. It continued its loss of market share, losing about 1.5 percent more. Tigo can now boast of 16.9 percent but maintains its 3rd position.

Second place Vodafone consolidated its position by marginally increasing its market share from 20.2 percent to 20.9.

Airtel also continued its growth, raking in 0.6 percent more space in the market, and now controls 12.8 percent of market share.

MTN is still number one with over 10.3 million subscribers representing a 47.9% of the market share.

Glo Mobile did not feature in this report because it finally launched its services recently.
