Moinina Fofana was the director of the Civil Defence Forces during the 11-year Sierra Leone Civil War.

Fofana was granted a conditional early release in February last year after serving two-thirds of his jail term of 15 years at Mpanga Prison in Kigali, Rwanda.

He was supposed to complete the rest of his jail term in his hometown, the city of Bo.

Fofana is alleged to have flouted one of the conditions for his release which included that “he must reside in Bo, stay out of politics as well as desist from threatening witnesses who testified against him during the trial”.

It is not clear which one of the conditions he might have flouted. The trial that Fofana is going to face will last for seven days. Enditem
