Omar Kavota, the coordinator of Center for Promotion of Peace, Democracy and Human Rights said it was at around 5:45 p.m on Sunday when gunshots were first heard near Beni territorial headquarters.
According to him, the attack left four civilians dead and two others injured. Among the dead, there was one man, a woman and two children.
Kavota said the security situation was now calm and under control of the regular army.
The administrator of Beni territory Bernard Amisi Kalonda confirmed the attack to Xinhua. He said army reinforcements had been deployed to the zone to repulse the rebels and help police protect the population.
Last week, eight people were killed in two villages in Beni territory by the same Ugandan rebels, ADF. The latter are accused of killing over 400 people since Oct. 2014. Enditem
