As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Ghana Community Network Services Ltd. (GCNet) supported Ghana Women in Information Technology (GWIIT) with a cheque for  GH¢5,000  in support of its first General Meeting on April 3rd 2012, to be held at Cleaver House, Accra.

Ghana Women in Information Technology (GWIIT) is an Association of women interested in promoting the participation of women Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) professionals and women ICT users in this digital era. Its objectives include Development, Mentoring, Research and Networking.

As a key player in the ICT sector promoting the application of Information Technology in activities, GCNet identifies itself with promoting IT in Women in Ghana.

This initiative comes as a complement to the establishment of the Tamale ICT Centre by GCNet in 2008 to promote the use of ICT and making it accessible to the people of Tamale. Among other ICT initiatives that GCNet has undertaken is included IT support to the Computer Science Department of the University of Ghana as well as other ICT initiatives.

The support to GWIIT marks another chapter in GCNet’s support to empowerment of women in its focal area of operation, having provided support in the past to the Women in Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA).
