New Government of Ghana (GOG) bonds dominated activity with GHS359.50 million traded over 41 deals, representing 67% of the day’s volume. Treasury bills followed at GHS50.57 million (235 trades), while corporate bonds contributed GHS123.52 million (3 trades).
Benchmark securities drove momentum, led by the 2031-maturity GOG bond “GOG-BD-11/02/31-A6147-1838-8.95” at GHS82.80 million. Treasury bills saw heightened interest in the 364-day “GOG-BL-17/11/25-A6637-1929-0,” trading GHS14.58 million. Corporate activity centered on Ghana Cocoa Board’s “CMB-BD-28/08/28-A6301-1675-13.00” bond, which cleared GHS123.00 million.
Repurchase agreements showed zero activity for collateralized and GMRA trades. Market analysts attribute the liquidity surge to institutional repositioning ahead of Q3 monetary policy reviews. The Mahama administration’s fiscal consolidation efforts continue to anchor investor confidence in sovereign debt instruments.
