Mr. Stephen K. Bedu, General Manager of the Akyempim rural bank in the central region has said the country`s rural development programmes cannot achieve the expected goals without the active involvement of the banking sector.

It is incumbent, therefore, on workers of the various financial institutions in the country, especially those operating in the rural areas, to put up credible performance all the time.

Mr. Bedu was addressing workers of the bank as part of a three- day orientation course organised by the management of the bank at Gomoa Dawurampong.

He was hopeful that, backed by a high sense of honesty and hard work, employees of the bank would be able to win the love, trust, and confidence of the people in their operational area to deal with the bank.

Mr Bedu said notwithstanding the challenges posed by the booming mobile banking system in the country, rural banks had equal chance of winning enough customers to assist them chalk appreciable successes to enhance their operations.

This, the General Manager stated, they could do, by continuing with their village to village sensitisation activities to sustain the interest of the people in the rural banking system.

Mr. Bedu reiterated rural banks uninterrupted determination and willingness to assist communities within their areas of operation to implement vital self-help projects like, school blocks and health centres.

“This is because it is only when the people were strong and healthy to pursue their respective economic ventures successfully that they will be able to accrue enough funds for their personal well-being and patronise the bank, Mr. Bedu added..

He made it clear to the workforce of the Akyempim rural bank that, the current management of the bank would not tolerate any act of indiscipline on the part of any employee stressing that, the bank has a major role to play in the socio-economic administration of the country.

“ Workers of the bank who have diabolical intentions to hatch in the course of time should immediately discard such dangerous ideas or be prepared to face the full rigours of the law when caught,” Mr. Bedu warned.

Beneficiary workers of the training course thanked management of the bank and pledged to render decent and excellent service to promote the aims and objectives of the bank in the coming years.
