Since 2008 when our late president Prof. Evans Atta- Mills became the number gentleman of our beloved motherland, some elements in Ghanaian politics were bent on denting his leadership style and making the nation ungovernable. I guess is naked truth that some small sections continue to think is their birth right to govern. Do you remember the famous pronouncement ?we live to see if he can govern this country??.e yooooo!

After the 2012 general election all what Ghanaians were demanding were a better way of life and that meant all hand on deck for national development and better standard of life but the shameful and nation wrecking opposition who were bent on overturning the will of the people by petitioning the highest court of our land held us back for eight good and wasteful months. This clearly tells you the kind of opposition they are. Indeed is evident their track record of never to concede defeat from the UP days still continues.
In August 5, 2011 a publication by Issac Essel on myjoyonline reported that Pollster and Editor of Daily Dispatch, Ben Ephson, admitted to wikileaks? report that the NPP offered him 20,000 dollars to conduct an opinion poll and skew it to favour the party, what a shame?.this is the kind of opposition the government has to deal with.
On October 16, 2012 Joy News TV hosted by Seyram Abla De-Souza reported an allegation by AFAG, a wing of the NPP calling for the arrest of the president for breach of office.?According to them group, the Ministry of Communications and National Security have awarded Huawei contracts in line with telecommunication development which they described as one of the juiciest contracts ever and claim is in contravention of Act 574 of the political parties Act. AFAG after the entire allegation now challenged the electoral commission, to publish the annual reports on NDC to ascertain whether such donations by Huawei were made.?Is this a joke or what?he who alleges must ?prove.
The behaviour of AFAG is similar with the drunken Manchester United fan who called 999 to report Moyes?.again I ask are they serious to govern? At times it sounds like they want to remind us of their existence.
To reiterate comments from the former Presidential aspirant Dr Arthur Kennedy, the NPP is not ready for power and at add salt to injury Hon. Ken Agyapong, also described its national executives as bunch of incompetent individuals and thieves who are not dedicated and honest. You see the work of ?Gbesie? at work!
Recently, on ?Boiling point? a political talk show on Oman Fm Kennedy Agyepong again accused the National Executive members of stealing motorbikes he bought on credit from China for the December 2012 campaign and accused them of using it for their personal gains to get elected back into office.
The question is how can we even entrust the national purse into the hands of these ?thieves? who cannot even account for motor bikes for their party activities?
Personally, Ghanaians should congratulate themselves and thank God they did not elect the Npp during the 2012 polls.
While the Npp rejected the legitimacy of President Maham, the MPs of the party still enjoyed the benefits of the state without any shame. They forgot that though they represent their respective constituents, not all are party followers. Do you now recognise how shallow thinking these MPs could be?
You see the significance of legitimacy is that it gives those in authority the required obedience in principle regardless of the content of any law or instruction. This simple principle was disobeyed by the minority in parliament as they were bent on taking the president to court for alleged mal-practices and the ?kominini? because their candidate did not win the election with his popular phase ?Free SHS?.
A bad case from inception which was made to look good due to media machination and propaganda and subsequently wasted the whole nation?s time for 8 good months. Instead of asking the key questions like how could the President use only three months to campaign and win ?one touch?, they rather sought to blame their abysmal performance on the EC, tsooo! Oh JDM you dey bee k33k3. Indeed all this was the work of a ?Gbeshie? possessed leadership of the NPP.
Do you remember the General secretary on the second day of the 2012 election ordering party followers to wear white and go to church to give thanks when results had not been announced? Such recklessness and ?Gbeshie? antics could only come from such leadership, a lie?
We know that in constitutional law, countries with written constitution such as our represent the highest laws of our land and we also know that the constitution does not outline any punitive measure to presiding officers yet the Npp were praying the court to annul the votes of innocent voters who had no hand in the operations of voting proceedings.
This court action could have been dealt with by any first year law student yet we had ?doctors?, ?professors?,?eyiasi lawyers?, and media house busily debating a bad case made to look good because some feel is their birth right to govern.
The NPP party is indeed not a party appealing to the independent voter and so is its ?Gbeshie? leader. To quote Dr Apraku, ?Our next leader must be able attract independent voters to vote for us. He must be a person who shares the values of the ordinary Ghanaian, a person who is the embodiment of what Ghanaians consider to be right and Godly?.
Subsequently he wondered why the party which managed to win six regions to attain political power in 2000 was now struggling to even win two regions.
My answer to Doc is if you have a leadership possessed by ?Ghesie? and as dishonest as described by Kennedy Agyapong then this is what you get.
Let me quickly add that is no more two regions rather one and half, ajaaahhh?.
Indeed their arrogance, ethnocentrism, all die be die, yen Akan fuo, all northerners are herdsmen, Ewes and Gas should be killed, compounded by the loose talks by leading members of the party has resulted in the massive loss of votes, i.e. floating votes.
For the benefit of those who least understand how our electioneering system works, let me take this opportunity to highlight that Ghana?s election is determine by floating voters and floating regions so if you have leadership of the Npp making preposterous comments as stated above it puts these floating votes off. A little advice, Humility is principle one in public service and for that matter Politics, never forget.
For those who continue to compare Prof Atta-Mills with Nana Addo are doing a grave disservice to the party followers. How could you compare oranges with apples? These days you hear people say, oh Atta-Mills contested three times so we should allow Nana Addo the same, I say to these bunch of hypocrites and dishonest people to get ready to embrace another defeat and this time a gargantuan one in 2016. In fact it will be unprecedented and so humiliating it will collapse the Npp party.
As for Nana Addo and the current leadership of the Npp we already have them on our radar and to quote the only general in Ghanaian politics ?Nana Akufo-Addo?s hooliganism style of leadership and his famous ?All-die-be-die? statement caused the NPP in 2012 and the dismissal of his petition by the Supreme Court will also be a factor to make him unpopular and unmarketable in 2016 if chosen by the NPP?.
Again the insistence by the leadership for Nana Addo to contest the next leader of the party hence depriving some best talents in the party is a doom in waiting for 2016.
Furthermore, let me say that the natural itch that lead to Npp assume power in 2000 is what continue to keep them in opposition due to leading members becoming too big for their breeches. On the 24th of January, 2014 myjoyonline.com reported the chairman of the Npp Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey saying that candidates were free to use money to influence delegates if they have it because in politics money is a gift. This policy initiated by the chairman reinforces the arrogance of this crop of leadership in the Npp.
Now we have Jake Obetsebi Lamptey institutionalizing ?monicracy? within the Npp in run up to the party?s regional executive election. This is the same man who during the Kuffour administration used tax payers? money to renovate a governmental bungalow and later bought it, hence defiling all grounds of morality. Should it take Kennedy Agyapong to tell us that such characters like Jake and co are ?thieves and dishonest??
The repeated issues of money and personality differences into the ranks of executives which lead to divisions in 2008 has already surfaced with such comments from this current chairman. A good example is the acrimony engulfing the regional executive election of which an aspiring candidate of the party donated a three storey building to the party executives, claiming he was directed by God. This is an act fully endorsed by a chairman of a political party describing it as a ?gift?.
I have always and continue to say that the current leadership of the Npp are no better alternative to help move Ghana to its pedestal. It will be hypocritical to say that the opposition are off no use to nation building but this opposition, hmmm ?nawa?ooooo?
Ghanaians deserve better and I call on all discerning democrats to rise up and contribute their quota in building a Better Ghana. For the Npp, a total overhaul of the party?s leadership should be NOW because Ghana needs no ?Gbeshie? opposition. I hope the drastic change of executive that took place in the Western region regarding the regional executive elections of the Npp will be replicated in their National executive elections because is necessary if they will continue to be an effective opposition to government.
I leave it here and may God bless my home land!
