Global Capitalist Austerity and the Socialist Solution

Workers World Party Detroit branch is inviting the public to a forum
on the current economic crisis in Detroit and the ongoing fightback
against austerity and the dictatorial rule of the banks. Come out and
participate in this important discussion on how we can build a
movement that can effectively challenge and defeat the bankers and
bosses during this current period.

This program will examine some of the most critical questions we are
facing in Detroit. The struggle being waged here is having national
implications through the interventions of CALPERS and AARP in the
constitutional issues involving emergency management and the forced
bankruptcy imposed by the Gov. Snyder and EM Kevyn Orr.

Why is Detroit’s working class under attack? Why has the largest per
capita African American city in the United States been placed in
receivership under dictatorial rule? How are the banks at fault? What
is the role of the capitalist state? What is the “Plan of Adjustment”
and how is it part of capitalist restructuring?

How are the attacks impacting workers, retirees, youth and the
community? How will the outcome of the bankruptcy affect the rest of
the country? What are the worldwide implications?

Join in with city retirees, unemployed youth and other activists
resisting finance capital’s destruction of our city. Learn how we can
intervene in the bankruptcy and the struggle to beat back the ruling
class interests that are denying us democracy and exploiting our labor
and resources.

Dinner will be served and donations are welcome although no one will
be turned away due to lack of funds.
