Our attention has been drawn to a front page publication in The Public
Agenda newspaper of Monday, May 20, 2013 under the banner headline: ?Bank of Ghana,?GNPC Rubbish Transparency Rules?Refused to provide oil revenue data for audit?,
authored by one Mohammed Suleman.
The publication states among others: ?The Bank of Ghana [BoG], the Ghana National?Petroleum Corporation [GNPC] and some major oil production companies have flouted the
Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative [EITI] voluntary principles as they blatantly
refused to provide vital petroleum revenue data for audit as required by the Ghana
Extractives Industry Transparency Initiative [GHEITI].?
We wish to state emphatically that the publication is false.
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation [GNPC] did not flout or refuse to provide vital
petroleum revenue data for audit as required by GHEITI.
GNPC co-operated fully with the GHEITI Aggregator (Boas and Associates) in its 2010-
2011reconciliation work and provided it with all relevant oil production and revenue
information and data. This is acknowledged in the final report.
GNPC upholds the standards of transparency and accountability in the country?s oil and gas
industry, and has demonstrated this by playing its part in accounting for the nation?s
hydrocarbon resources and also cooperating fully with all relevant agencies, including
GHEITI in their operations.
We therefore urge members of the general public to disregard the said publication as
baseless.
